Mt. San Antonio Runs Away With 13th Consecutive SCC Supremacy Title
Mt. San Antonio College's 13th straight South Coast Conference Supremacy Award was a one college show of dominance as the Mounties outdistanced the next closest college by the widest margin this century, 74.5 points.
Mounties teams won 11 SCC championships to score 239.5 points, well ahead of second-place Long Beach City College (165). El Camino placed third with 150 while Cerritos (144) was fourth.
Cerritos remains the last school other than Mt. SAC to win the supremacy award when it tied the Walnut campus for the 2012-2013 title, 199-199. Cerritos also is the last school other than Mt. SAC to win the title outright in 2008-2009.
The supremacy award was handed to Mt. SAC Director of Athletics Joe Jennum by SCC Commissioner Rich Kollen at the year-end athletic directors meeting held Wednesday at Long Beach.
Mt. SAC won its titles in men's and women's soccer, women's volleyball, men's and women's cross country, women's basketball, softball, men's track and field, men's and women's swimming and diving, and beach volleyball.
Long Beach had the next most titles with three in women's soccer (South Division), and men's and women's water polo. Cerritos scored two in men's soccer (South) and women's track and field.
Solo championships were turned in by El Camino (baseball), LA Harbor (men's basketball, South), Pasadena City (women's badminton), East Los Angeles (men's basketball, North Division), Rio Hondo (men's soccer, co-title, North), and hosted-in College of the Desert (women's tennis).
