Streak Of SCC Supremacy Titles Now 14 For Mt. San Antonio

Mt. San Antonio College collected its 14th consecutive South Coast Conference Supremacy Award, winning 12 conference titles in the process during the 2023-24 sports season.

The Mounties scored 246 points with Long Beach City taking second once again at 183. Cerritos followed in third place with 157, then El Camino scored 139 for fourth.

Cerritos remains the last school other than Mt. SAC to win the supremacy award when it tied the Walnut campus for the 2012-2013 title, 199-199. Cerritos also is the last school other than Mt. SAC to win the title outright in 2008-2009.

The supremacy award was handed to Mt. SAC Director of Athletics Joe Jennum by SCC Commissioner Rich Kollen at the year-end athletic directors meeting held May 15 at Long Beach.

Mt. SAC won its titles in men's and women's soccer, men's and women's cross country, men's water polo, men's and women's basketball, softball, men's and women's track and field, men's swimming and diving, and women's tennis.

Long Beach had the next most titles with five in women's soccer (South Division), women's water polo, women's basketball, women's swimming and diving and co-champion in beach volleyball. Cerritos won two in men's basketball and baseball as did El Camino in men's soccer and sharing the beach volleyball crown. Rio Hondo won in women's volleyball while Pasadena City won the women's badminton title.

The points are only accumulated through conference finishes/places with bonus points awarded to SCC champions with higher bonus points going to the sports with the most teams competing within that specific conference.

The conference also won five state championships as Mt. SAC captured the men's and women's cross country and men's and women's track and field titles for the second straight year. El Camino captured the 3C2A men's soccer championship.

Cerritos College won the women's wrestling state title, but the sport is not hosted by the conference.
