LA Southwest Women's Basketball Coach Twan Herron Mourned

The South Coast Conference was saddened by the passing of Los Angeles Southwest College women's basketball head coach Twan Herron, 53, who died unexpectedly on June 10.

Herron had finished his first season directing the Cougars as they finished in a tie for second place in the South Coast Conference South Division 2025-26 standings. 

Herron previously was head coach for eight seasons at West LA College where he directed the Wildcats to a pair of Western State Conference South Division titles in 2017 and 2018. A 2-time WSC Coach of the Year, his teams made the Southern California Regional Playoffs in five of his seasons there.

Services for Herron are set for Beulah Baptist Church in Los Angeles on Saturday, July 18 at 10 a.m.
