Rio Hondo Ends Cerritos Run of 13 Straight SCC Women's Soccer Titles

Rio Hondo College wins the 2019 SCC women's soccer championship.
Rio Hondo College wins the 2019 SCC women's soccer championship.

Rio Hondo College stopped Cerritos incredible run of women's soccer conference titles at 13 in capturing the 2019 South Coast Conference title. Rio Hondo picked up its third title in four years as a member of the SCC, but first as a sole, 9-team league after the conference was split in divisions from 2016-2018.

You have to go back to 2005 when Long Beach City College won the title that Cerritos did not earn a SCC championship, and the Falcons never shared a single crown during the streak.

The Roadrunners had a perfect trip in SCC games at 8-0 and handed the Falcons (7-1) their only conference loss, 3-0, on Oct. 25. Long Beach City placed third at 6-2 while Mt. San Antonio was fourth at 5-3. To show the top heavy feel of the conference this season, the final five teams in the standings combined for just seven SCC victories.

One highlight during SCC play was performed by Compton College as the Tartars ended an 88-match winless streak going back to 2011 in South Coast games when they defeated Pasadena City, 2-1, on Oct. 25. Ironically, Compton's last win before that was also by a 2-1 count at Compton.

SOCAL REGIONAL PLAYOFF SEEDINGS
