Spencer Damaske of Mt. San Antonio broke a meet record in the 400-yard individual medley to highlight the performances at the 2026 South Coast Conference Women's Swimming and Diving Championships held April 16-18 at El Camino College.
Damaske won the 400 IM in a time of 4:30.12 to break the mark set by ECC's Mia Park two years ago by 1.55 seconds.
Long Beach City captured the team championship with 972 points to outdistance last year's 3C2A state and SCC champ Mt. SAC in second place at 758. It's LBCC's third title in five years and sixth in its conference history.
The Vikings won 12 events overall followed by the Mounties with eight and El Camino with one--Monica Sanchez in the 200 breaststroke in 2:34.82.
Damaske went on to be named Co-SCC Swimmer of the Meet with Long Beach's Samira Semaan, who swept the freestyle events with wins in the 100, 200 and 500 freestyle. Damaske's other victories were in the 200 IM and 200 backstroke in 2:06.07, just .19 off the meet record set last year by her then Mt. SAC teammate Paige Fast.
LBCC scored four relays wins beginning with the meet opening 200 freestyle behind Carolyn Kao, Amy Fritz, Devon Fletcher and anchor Semaan in 1:38.27, just .17 off the 26-year-old record set by Golden West back in 2000, in the 400 medley (Bridget Ball, Fletcher, Simone Mack and Semaan), in the 800 freestyle (Kao, Sophia Kinno, Avery White and Semaan), breaking the 8-minute mark at 7:53.48, and the closing 400 freestyle (Semaan, Fletcher, Kinno and Kao) in 3:33.39, .91 from the meet record.
Kao scored a pair of event wins in the 50 free (24.16) as Vikings swimmers placed 1-2-3 and the 100 butterfly while Fletcher took first in both the 100 breaststroke and 100 IM she just edged out teammate Fritz at the wall by .05.
Mt. SAC won the 200 medley relay thanks to Eden Buell, Damaske, Emily Robertson, and Jessica Luna.
