Long Beach Women's Water Polo Dynasty: 10 Straight SCC Titles, 93-Game Conference Win Streak
Long Beach City College continued two glorious streaks on Saturday. The Vikings captured their 10th straight South Coast Conference women's water polo championship. Their 19-2 win over Cerritos in the SCC Tournament title match extended LBCC's conference win streak to 93 matches.
The state #1-ranked Vikings outscored their three opponents at the Cerritos-hosted 2025 tourney by a combined 58-6.
Irene Pueyo Caballero, Mar Bernal, and Amy Fritz all scored four goals in the title clincher. Miranda Ferguson netted eight goals and Maya Lopez five in Long Beach's first round victory over Pasadena City, 21-2.
Long Beach (34-2 overall, 10-0 in SCC games) earned the top seed in the Southern California Regional Championship Tournament Nov. 13-15 at Southwestern College.
Cerritos (14-13, 7-3 in SCC games) placed second in the South Coast and reached the championship match thanks to a 19-1 win over East Los Angeles, then a 14-7 triumph over Mt. San Antonio in the semifinals after the Falcons had lost to the Mounties in the final dual season game, 11-7, on Oct. 29.
Monserrat Rodriguez scored her season high of seven goals against ELAC. Jasmine Escorcia tallied five goals and Jayden-Starr Smith made nine saves defending the Cerritos goal.

THIRD PLACE FINAL: Mt. San Antonio 11, El Camino 10
After eight ties and a brief 7-5 Warriors lead, the Mounties (14-12, 8-2) broke through with the only two goals of the fourth quarter to capture third place. The game-winning goal was netted by Nathaly Mora, her third of the match, with 4:39 left. Ava Mercado, also with three goals, had tied it for Mt. SAC with a goal 21 seconds into the final period. Olivia Mozian and Francesca Pinnilos both scored hat tricks for ECC (6-15, 5-5).

FIFTH PLACE FINAL: Chaffey 8, East Los Angeles 1
The Panthers (12-18, 5-5) grab fifth in the SCC behind a solid defensive effort as goalie Savannah Shaw made eight saves in three quarters of work. SCC season goal-scoring leader Sarah Alexander (70 goals) scored a pair of goals and dished out two assists while Elise Camarena made four steals. ELAC (4-16, 3-7) had beaten Rio Hondo, 14-12, to reach this final. The Huskies were led this season by Alanis Alvarado.
SEVENTH PLACE FINAL: Rio Hondo 20, Pasadena City 8
The Roadrunners (2-20, 2-8) used six goals each by Klariza Munoz (scored eight v. East LA) and Emily Narvaez to send the Lancers (0-14, 0-10) to defeat and secure seventh for RHC. Rae Jiao made 13 saves, three assists and three steals for PCC while Alondra Vazquez scored four goals.
